What is on the sheet

The sheet is our own layout on 1 page. The grid has a column pair for each of up to 5 players. Each pair has a space for a name, then a Banked column and a Total column. Down the left edge are 26 numbered turns, so each player has 26 rows.

A box above the grid reminds players of 2 rules. A first score of the game must be at least 500 points from 1 turn, and after a player reaches 10,000 or more, every other player gets one last turn. To the left of the grid is the scoring table for the dice in one roll, so nobody has to look it up. There is a line for the date at the top.

The printed table gives 300 for three 1s. Groups differ on that score, so agree on a table before you start.

How to fill it in

  1. Write each player’s name in their column. Add the date.
  2. Players take turns. Row 1 is each player’s first turn, row 2 the second, and so on down the sheet.
  3. When a player banks, write the points from that turn in their Banked space. Add them to the last Total and write the new Total beside it.
  4. When a player farkles, the turn scores nothing. Write 0 in Banked and copy the Total from the row above.
  5. Until a player has banked 500 or more in 1 turn, they cannot bank a smaller score. Their Total stays at 0 until then.
  6. When a player’s Total reaches 10,000 or more, every other player gets one last turn. Then circle the highest Total. That player wins.

Keep score on a phone instead

The Farkle scorekeeper has each player race to 10,000. You add the points a player banks or mark a farkle for a turn that scored nothing, and it applies the 500-point first score and the last turn for everyone else once someone reaches 10,000.

Printing tips

  • The sheet is 1 page for US Letter paper, in portrait.
  • On A4 paper, choose fit to page in the print box so the grid is not cut off.
  • It holds up to 5 players. Print a second sheet for a bigger group, or start a fresh one for each game.
  • Use a pencil so a wrong total can be corrected.

The full rules

The sheet only records the score. If you need to learn the game or settle a question, the full rules are on their own page.

Questions

How many points do you need to get on the board in Farkle?

500 points in a single turn, by the main rules. Until you bank that first score, you cannot stop on a smaller total. After that you can stop on any score. Another published version has no minimum, and some groups ask for 1,000.

Is three 1s worth 300 or 1,000 in Farkle?

Both are played. The table printed on our sheet gives 300. Another published set gives 1,000, and so do many family games. Agree on one before the first roll and write it on the sheet.

What are four, five and six of a kind worth in Farkle?

1,000 for four of a kind, 2,000 for five and 3,000 for six. The number on the dice does not matter, so four 1s and four 6s both score 1,000. Four of a kind with a pair on the other 2 dice scores 1,500.

How much is a straight worth in Farkle?

1,500 points for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 in one roll. Three pairs and four of a kind with a pair also score 1,500, and two triplets score 2,500. Each of these uses all 6 dice.

What do you write on the score sheet after a farkle?

Write 0 for the turn. A farkle costs only the points from the turn you are on, and the points already written on the sheet stay yours. One published version takes 1,000 points off for 3 farkles in a row, but the main rules have no penalty.

What happens when someone reaches 10,000 in Farkle?

Every other player gets one last turn to beat that score. The player who reached 10,000 does not roll again. The highest score after those turns wins, even if it belongs to a different player.
